INFORMATION INTERVIEW

What is your role in the current job?
I work as a digital programmer for educational games at a children's media corporation for three and a half years.

What are the qualification requirements for your job?
Experience in digital design, graphic design, programming, and animation,

Do you think your educational experience prepares you well for the job?
Sure, my computer science background equipped me with the qualifications to be a programmer. I taught myself the Adobe Flash game program on the website at school.

What is the best part of your job? Worst part?
The best part will be producing a lot of cool things. I am proud that children learned all kinds of things quickly from different web games that I developed.
The worst part is that we don't have much space to expand. I mean many projets are templated within the limited time. We could only make many similar games for making money quickly.

Do you think it is your dream job?

Kind of yes in a lot of ways, especially I can make kinds of games. But it is not much challenge for me. Some ideas can't be further explored under the context of children's media.

How did you find the job opportunity?
Seek for positions in different sites, mainly searching for keywords like "game developer" or "programmer" on Indeed.

How do you stay informed about your field?
Tech blogs or social media. I prefer casual way like follow some game developer’s personal account on Twitter or Facebook.

Do you have some advice for people who want to enter the field?
Having some experience in coding and design will help yourself and your colleagues work much easier. For applying for a job, I suggest go to interview websites for information. UX designers should prepare a convincing portfolio page with your works.

How do you leverage "narrative" in their work?
In different ways. When job application. you should know how to highlight what the employer cares about. they want to make sure why and how you will be motivated to work here. For daily work specifically, you apply narrative in presenting your ideas to colleagues and clients. Also in achieving your ideas by identifying users' scenarios.
